LAND

LAND was a year-long project I undertook in 2023, a continuation of the KYST project. LAND is a series of 52 consecutive walking tours throughout the interior of Bornholm, over fields, along paths, and through forests, one for each week of the year. Each walk took place on Friday from dawn to dusk, and all the work produced within this period contributed to the LAND exhibitions, blog, and book. A much more detailed overview of the project can be found here. Click on the image to view the gallery.

FIREKANTER

FIRKANTER started as a series of site-specific ephemeral sculptural installations: anamorphic squares created and photographed in Bornholm’s landscape by moving bits of the landscape around. From this starting point, I created a number of paintings where I visited the site at two different times. Together with a gallery installation, this body of work became the exhibition ‘FIRKANTER’ in Svanekegaarden, 2022. Click on the image to view the gallery.

ERTHOLMENE

ERTHOLMENE is a project undertaken in Maj 2021 on the tiny ‘Pea Islands’ of Christiansø and Frederiksø. I divided the islands into seven sections and worked day to day, dawn to dusk, over a week painting and drawing what I saw. The resulting work was collected into an exhibition and a book. A much more detailed overview of the project can be found here. Click on the image to view the gallery.

KYST

KYST is a year-long project undertaken in 2018, where I divided Bornholm’s coastline into 52 sections, and walked them every Friday for the whole year. Starting at dawn and finishing at dusk, I recorded what I saw as I walked. The project resulted in a book and an exhibition that travelled from Bornholm to England, Scotland, and Allerød. A much more detailed overview of the project can be found here. Click on the image to view the gallery.

BIRD OF THE MONTH

BOTM (‘Birds of the month’) is a series of 12 lino-prints I made in 2014. Each monthly print shows a local bird in a specific location on Bornholm. They are reduction prints with two colours, and measure 14 by 14 cm. Click on the image to view the gallery.

THROUGH THE EYE OF THE YEAR

This series of paintings of the view from my old studio was made throughout the year. A simple motif with four areas (sky, field, near trees, and far trees) constantly changing throughout the day, week, month, and year.

ANAMORPHISME

Over the years, I have created many one-off site-specific anamorphic installations – some ephemeral and in nature, others specifically for an exhibition or gallery space. I am obsessed with the visual plane and how we perceive colour and distance.

ONGOING PROJECTS

I’m currently working on a number of projects/investigations at the moment. A giant oak tree split into 40 sections – painting watercolours outside in minus temperatures with just five stripes of colour – a photographic slideshow of changes in the landscape based on satellite photos and old maps… There are many more in the pipeline. I will update and add them here as each project is completed
